Vintage watch band 16mm Shell Cordovan horse leather JB Champion USA NOS strap

This vintage watch band is made from rare Shell Cordovan leather a very difficult type to source from the 1940s/50s. This is New Old Stock unused American-made band signed by JB Champion USA from the 1940s/50s. Size 16mm wide ends fit many watches also known as 5/8 inches size. Shell Cordovan is the term used for a very special leather made from a horse's rump. A horse provides two "shells, " or circular sheets of leather.

This rare material, also used for shoes and belts, is famous for its pliability and durability, as well as for the wonderful patina it develops over time. Although considerably more costly than other leathers, Shell Cordovan is an excellent investment and is long-lasting. The smooth, high-grade finish and unique stitching of a Shell Cordovan band gives your vintage watch a special look. Standard length strap measures 7 5/8 inches (19.5cm) placed end to end, not including the buckle. Metric measurements of the two pieces are 115/80mm. Flat unpadded strap that won't detract from a fine watch. Band is 3.2mm thick where it meets the watch and 2.0mm through the body of the band. Comes with a special shape vintage gold-tone buckle but you can request a silver-tone buckle instead. The buckle end width is 16mm if you have a signed buckle for this band.
