This vintage watch band is made from rare Shell Cordovan leather a very difficult type to source, discovered as New Old Stock from the 1940s/50s still on its original sales card. Made in the United States by Binson.
Shell Cordovan is the term used for a very special leather made from a horse's rump. A horse provides two "shells, " or circular sheets of leather. This rare material, also used for shoes and belts, is famous for its pliability and durability, as well as for the wonderful patina it develops over time. Although considerably more costly than other leathers, Shell Cordovan is an excellent investment and is long-lasting. The smooth, high-grade finish and unique stitching of a Shell Cordovan band gives your vintage watch a special look.Standard length strap measures 7 1/4 inches (18.3cm) placed end to end, not including the buckle. Metric measurements of the two pieces are 108/75mm. Flat unpadded strap that won't detract from a fine watch. Band is 3.7mm thick where it meets the watch and 1.3mm through the body of the band.
Comes with a special shape vintage gold-tonel buckle or you can request a silver-tone buckle instead. The buckle end width is 16mm if you have a signed buckle for this band. They are watch bands made of genuine crocodile alligator shark ostrich skin snakeskin buffalo goatskin lizard camel snakeskin and other Exotic Skins.
