Vintage Byers 2001 Choice Coach & Leather Horse Set/Christmas Stagecoach RARE
The only 2 flaws I saw is: small nick behind horses right front leg, and small nick on bottom of right door. The wood appears to be mahogany and wrought iron/metal swing bars.
Doors open on both sides and the interior looks great. Includes leather horse 15 long and approx. Measures 38 fully extended from back of coach to the tip of the horse. Great for a mantel piece.
Coach only measures 27" long, 10" wide and 15 tall. Travel in the 1800s was very different than it is today. Without cars, people traveled by foot, horse or stagecoach. In 1861, Mark Twain describes the stagecoach in his book "Roughing It" as a cradle on wheels.
In fact, because of its unique construction, the stagecoach rocked as it moved instead of bouncing on steel springs. However, many of Twain's fellow travelers might have disagreed, poor weather, uneven roads and the fear of bandits made stagecoach travel anything but comfortable.
