Vintage 1960's Enid Collins Champion Quarter Horse Canvas/Leather Bucket Bag
Rare and wonderful 1960s Enid Collins of Texas Bucket/Feed Bag depicting a large Quarter horse titled Champion, who looks every bit the champion as the name on the bag suggests. You don't see this style around very often. It is a great collector's piece for Collin's collectors. Super thick canvas trimmed in black leather with brass hardware make up this unique and enchanting bag. The outside is screen printed. The title of the purse is on the lower left corner. Late 1960's is the time period for this bag I was told. Tandy leather took over the company in 1970. It is marked in two places with the Collins and horse mark. The interior has a signature embossed logo on the pocket with a zippered space as well. The other hallmark ec is opposite the title on the right bottom side. It has been taken care of and gently used. There are some lighter areas/water marks on the back where I spot cleaned a couple of lightly soiled areas. You can use a magic eraser or warm soap and water if you want to clean all of the canvas and even the marks out. Collins /The Original Collins of Texas was founded in Medina by Enid and Frederic Collins in 1946.

Nestled in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, the company was primarily focused on design and manufacturing of ladies handbags and accessories. Over the years Collins enjoyed great success as one of Americas finest handbag and accessories designers and manufacturers.

Collins bags were a must have item for the fashionable as well as those looking for a special gift. Enid Collins was gifted with a unique talent and an original approach to design. Over time, Collins resonated with customers as a fine American Fashion brand as well as a Folk Art icon. This has heavy duck canvas, nailhead studs, dark black genuine leather trim, and a wooden base.

The inside has a metal zipper pocket on one side. It's in very good condition for a light-colored bag with some water marks on the canvas, some scratches on the very bottom wood of the bag, and also some light scratches on the leather trim. All in all though, it's quite nice and clean, especially for a light-colored vintage bag and very structurally sound. 8 inches wide, 5 inches deep, and 10 inches tall, not including the handle which has a 5.5 inch drop.

Weighs a little more than 14 ounces. Will be wrapped with care. The item "Vintage 1960's Enid Collins Champion Quarter Horse Canvas/Leather Bucket Bag" is in sale since Friday, July 30, 2021.
