I say this because in this case the original shape of the interim panel was modified. Done by moving the cinch belt to a lower position, smoothing out the interim panel (seen in 2nd to the last pic) so it does not choke down into what is normally seen on a half belt as a much more constricted hour glass shape. Thus lending to a more modern cut.
In the end, that single modification done to this jacket gave it (2" to 2 1/2") gut room. Otherwise not found on regular half belt style jackets that otherwise more completely follow the vintage design.
Combine this with Monarch's pleasing look & styling all making this jacket an absolute pleasure to wear. This horsehide was recently acquired from Italy by a minimum order and specially made for my use. Known in some circles as Vicenza. The hide is a uniform thickness & a medium weight which will require some break in but only just. All stitched both inside and out using 100% cotton thread.
On the inside, it's plaid lining is a semi smooth light to medium weight that is 100% wool and made by Pendleton. A heavy black rayon was my choice for the sleeve's lining. All set up with inset 100% wool cuffs. The hardware used to build this fine jacket is as follows. The main zipper is a reproduction M-42 nickel Talon by Waldes.
For an upgrade I added an original M-39 triple marked nickel straight bar slider. While the cigarette pocket is an original 1940's nickel ball & chain Talon. The cuffed sleeve buttons are original War era by Colt Firearms.
All constructed using Monarch's characteristic French seams where ever reasonably possible. Because of the exact Monarch method of construction as seen done on this jacket it has arguably the most comfortable, non point loading (seen in provided #4 image) shoulder seam found with an action back. All as originally done by Monarch on those action back equipped jackets made during the late 1930's & 1940's. Just one of the many points seen that make this make jacket so great.
A few mentionable upgraded items found on this jacket include the two inside pockets. One of which is a welted pocket seen on the jacket's right side along it's lining. On the right lapel is a map/pistol pocket that is designed after Monarch's M-422A & well supported. Sleeve length 25 3/4" to 26".
Body length (base of collar to hem) 25 1/2. Front Length (base of collar to hem) 23.
This jacket will be very comfortable if matched to someone of a correct size. If you like what you see but this particular jacket is not correctly sized for you or you might prefer a completely different color or hide type, then another can be made that might better suit you.
Note, this sale is for one and only one black colored size 44 Monarch jacket. I included the image of that original brown size 42 Monarch from my personal collection for comparison purposes only. Under no circumstances is that original brown jacket a part of this sale!
