Mk III Officer's Spare Horseshoe Case WW1 Cavalry Equipment, vintage leather

A Mk III Officer's Horseshoe Case. This curved case is made of dark tan leather. It has brass billets and buckles. There is a small pocket inside the case which would have held horseshoe nails. The sleeve or "frog" on the front would hold a sword scabbard.

The two short straps would attach to the D rings of the saddle on the near side, and the long strap would loop forward around the girthstraps. This particular design is a Mark III Officer's horseshoe case which was introduced in 1903. It is in very good condition with a nice patina. There are no maker's marks, dates or ordnance arrows.
