H&L Block Vintage 50s LG Brown Horse Leather Motorcycle Jacket Men's Medium
This is an ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1950's MENS. The original patina on the leather is quite outstanding and exemplifies the highly sought after "weathered distressed" look except in this case ITS REAL! Original tag is "H&L Block" Horsehide San Francisco. This is a longer, belted leather jacket with button cuffs and sheepskin collar.
Condition is vintage cool with leather that has stiffened a bit but not so it's not comfortable to wear. Please see pics for time distressed areas. No holes in any leather. One missing button in front.
Wool lined with one tear in armpit. Both belt loops have come dis-attached at top stitching. Please look carefully at measurements. 32 length from shoulder to hem.
Armpit to armpit across front is 19. 44 around chest and back.
Sleeve length shoulder seam to cuff hem 24. Was founded by Harry Block and his younger brother Leopold around 1870. The company originally manufactured gloves. Later in 1900 Harrys son Roy entered the tanning business becoming co-owner of the Manasse-Block Tanning Co in East Oakland. With Block as president the company continued to grow and in 1920 was manufacturing leather jackets and other goods under the Block-Bilt brand name.
It managed to win several government contracts to manufacture leather and cloth jackets for the US Navy; items which are still highly sought after by WWII relic collectors and leather jacket enthusiasts. The company thrived for the better part of a century and the Block family continued to own the tannery for the rest of its productive life. The plant expanded steadily until 1956, its principal product being boot and shoe leather.
