ESTATE FIND - Here is a Vintage Champion Turf Sterling Silver Show Headstall from the 70s Loaded with silver! The leather has surface cracks and ruff yet soft I conditioned the leather. Personally, I could use this on my horse because hes mellow and no surprises. But if you have a hot horse thats tuff on tack, I wouldnt recommend using this. The crown piece at the buckle is pretty worn and not very strong. The silver conchos on the sides are HUGE as you can see with the quarter in the photo for scale. Look close, theyre not exactly the same. One is marked Sterling Mexico and the other is marked sterling overlay. The sterling concho is 15.9 grams and about the size of a 50c piece!
The browband, the bars along the cheek pieces and the big Chicago screws are also Sterling. The buckle adjustment on the crown piece is marked silver overlaid. The throatlatch is stiff and marked Alpaca Mexico. I wanted to replace the throatlatch but do not have a spare.
Please see the other ads I have the quick bits and vintage Sliester also were found at the estate sale.
