1950s Horse Hide Black Leather Biker / Police Jacket Men's XS / S, Vintage
This is a really great vintage 1950s Horse Hide leather biker or police jacket. It has a great design with original belt, 4 pockets, and working zippers and snaps. The leather is still quite soft and pliable. I have not done anything to this jacket. I like to leave things in original condition as I found them. There is a tag on the neck area that reads " Made of Genuine Horse Hide Front Quarter ". It reminds me of a Buco jacket but I can't say for sure. Overall condition is really nice for a jacket that is close to 70 years old. There are a few flaws but all repairable. On the right sleeve, the seam had split. Someone repaired this by stapling it. There are 11 staples that can easily be removed and the holes won't be very noticeable.
This would be extremely easy to have the seam re-sewn. There are no missing or ripped pieces, just the thread that has come loose. The only other flaw is on the inside felt lining towards the left arm, there's a tear about 5" long (see last photo), and also a 0.75" tear towards the bottom edgeboth can be repaired. On the back left side, there's one seam that has had some thread replaced (see second to last photo); it's starting to come loose a little bit but nothing serious. Other than that, this jacket is excellent.
There are no holes or tears in the leather. It has one left side inside pocket, two angle outside zipper pockets, one vertical zipper pocket, and one outside pocket with a snap. Each wrist area on the sleeve has a zipper. All zippers and snaps work and look to be original.
There is no size designation so I'll do my best to measure it. Chest: 36" Waist: 34" Sleeve length: 24" Shoulder across: 18" Front length (shoulder to bottom): 25" Back length (neck to bottom): 25" Based on the measurements, this would be considered a Men's size XS or S. Please let me know if you want anything else on the jacket measured.
