1939 IWC Most Likely for TIFFANY & CO. Equestrian Horse Watch - 18K Gold, Platinum & Essex Crystal.

An exceptional, vintage lady's timepiece from IWC, likely retailed by Tiffany & Co. Cressarow cased IWC's often were retailed by Tiffany, and the only similar Essex crystal watches we've seen were all retailed through Tiffany. In the 1930's, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of the company's select offerings was a line of watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co.

Although the maker's name were always hidden, the retailer contracted with the world's finest watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces. This incredibly pleasing watch made for equestrian lovers is a prime example of this phenomenon. We were very fortunate to acquire it. The gold and platinum findings on the bracelet are made to look like saddle belts, despite their very small size were actually crafted in two-tone for a more authentic look! The watch is rich in details, and the Essex crystal is exquisite!

For the case Tiffany & co. Enlisted the help of the one of the best American case manufacturers of the day, Cresarrow of New York. Founded by Henry Blank in the late nineteenth century, Cresarrow contracted with Patek, Vacheron & Constantin, Tiffany, Cartier, IWC and also a few lesser known houses to build some of the beautiful examples of their early wristwatch cases. This very special watch is all original down to the dial, hands, winding crown, bracelet findings and bracelet - all parts are original. It is in excellent condition, appearing to have been worn seldom and carefully in appreciation of its quality and value.

Its silver dial is original and untouched. Its case is in better than excellent condition, and the Essex crystals are perfect.

It has been recently cleaned and oiled and is keeping time making it ready for immediate enjoyment. Please note: A similar watch is published in John Loring's work. Dial : Silver, unsigned made before Tiffany & Co. Signed all of their dials, black painted Arabic indexes, original and untouched, excellent condition with light aging.

Crystal : Acrylic, vintage, excellent condition with light wear. Please inquire if you would like a brand new crystal custom made for it. Case : Original, specially made by Henry Blank's highly esteemed Cresarrow Co. 18K gold and platinum, one-body, hinged, polished, beautifully decorated, 19mm diameter (excluding crown). Band : Original, leather, with exquisite saddle themed 18K gold and platinum findings, fits a wrist up to just over 6 inches, safety chain. If you would like a longer band, a brand new black cord bracelet can be installed and sized to fit any wrist. Movement : High grade, IWC caliber 90, manually wound, rhodium plated, two adjustments for precision timekeeping, gold jewel settings. Crown : Gold, original, design that compliments the case.
